About Latere
Latere is Latin for "to lie hidden."
What lies hidden is human intelligence. In systems that grow ever more autonomous, human judgment does not disappear. It recedes behind every layer of decision-making, invisible but essential. Latere's mission is to ensure that this hidden human intelligence remains present, remains effective, and is never engineered away.
What We Believe
The most powerful AI is not the kind that removes humans from the process. It is the kind that frees humans to focus on what only they can do: set direction, weigh tradeoffs, exercise judgment in the face of uncertainty.
We are not building tools that think for you. We are building tools that let AI run at full capacity while you retain clear decision-making authority.
Values
Human judgment is irreplaceable
AI can execute, even reason. But deciding what matters and what is worth doing still requires human judgment.
Transparency over magic
Every AI action should be visible, auditable, and reversible. AI you cannot inspect is AI you cannot trust.
Autonomy is a spectrum
Full AI autonomy and full human control are both valid. But where to draw the line should always be a human decision.
Build for the long term
AI capabilities will keep evolving, technology paradigms will keep shifting. The principle that human judgment belongs in the loop will not. We build for that to remain true.
